EXCELLENCE IS WHAT IS TRULY DONE EXCELLENTLY

On April 24th 2012 Indonesian National Board for Disaster Mitigation
(BNPB) Education and Training Centre visited Jakarta Centre for Law
Enforcement Cooperation (JCLEC) in Semarang for a comparison study.  | JCLEC provides training for Indonesian and global law enforcement in the fields of intelligence, forensics, investigation and management. The Training Centre would like to learn about the “world-class training centre” from JCLEC that later the Training Centre would incorporate the comparison study result into the development plan of Indonesia Disaster Relief Training Centre (Ina DRTG) in Sentul. The team comprised of six BNPB Training Centre officials and staff, four AIFDR consultants and a UNDP staff. The team was led by the Head of Training Centre, Ir. B. Wisnu Widjaja, M.Si.
Brian Thomson, JCLEC Executive Director welcomed the BNPB Training Centre team and guided the comparison study activities. The first agenda was JCLEC presentation on how JCLEC was established, the organization’s funding system, human resource management system, JCLEC’s training products and instances which have made JCLEC becoming an international standard training centre. The presentation then was followed by a discussion comparing between JCLEC and BNPB.

The second agenda was lunch in JCLEC cafeteria. The third agenda was
observation on JCLEC facilities, such as training classrooms, table top
exercise control room, simulation rooms, computer based training room,
guests’ bedroom, fitness centre, swimming pool and lounge.
This
comparison study showed that JCLEC is an example of an international
standard training centre. JCLEC’s excellence is not merely words but
also an evident sight. The excellent service of its staff right from the
security gate, meeting room, dining room and all facilities made the
BNPB team felt honored and guided to comprehend JCLEC’s qualities. It
proves that JCLEC has excellent standard operational procedure and
excellent performance management. JCLEC facilities also of international
standards. The main facilities, such as the training classrooms and the
control room were designed as a cutting edge technology based to
optimally support the learning process. Supporting facilities such as
guest’s bedrooms provide comfort to guests staying in JCLEC.

The meals provided by JCLEC for the training participants are also of
high quality, nutritious and healthy. Even the fitness centre uses
aerobic and resistance training equipments of international standards,
besides that JCLEC buildings and non-physical environment have the
eco-friendly standard where the buildings employ energy efficient
designs. In training business, JCLEC also continuously explores new
potentials or opportunities to maintain and improve its excellence, for
instance by examining recent topics for the trainings.  Overall, this comparison study provided an insight to BNPB Education and
Training Centre on world-class training centre. And most fortunate,
JCLEC opened an opportunity for further comparison study focusing on
certain areas / portions in the training centre context, curriculum for
instance. Besides that, JCLEC is open to any opportunities of
cooperation in the future especially on topics such as risk mitigation
and risk management handled by JCLEC and BNPB.
  Finally, JCLEC inspired BNPB that excellence is created when we carry
out duties excellently and striving for excellence is done through an
ongoing and sustainable process. |
