Opening of Regional Executive Leadership Program |

Sunday 4 March 2007: The inaugural Regional Executive Leadership Program was officially opened today, by the Australian and Indonesian Foreign Ministers H.E. Alexander Downer and H.E. Dr N. Hassan Wirajuda at the Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation (JCLEC) in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. The course is being attended by twenty three senior police officers from the following twelve countries Australia, Indonesia, Brunei, Laos, Malaysia, China, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Cambodia and South Korea. The program sponsored by the Australian and United Kingdom Governments and Charles Sturt University, is being hosted by the Indonesian National Police through JCLEC. a collaborative approach between the INP, the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Institute of Police Management , Bramshill Police Staff College and Charles Sturt University. The program is designed to develop the personal, organisational and regional leadership skills of the attending officers with a focus on the challenges of counter terrorism, trans-national crime, intelligence and critical decision making.
The leadership program is designed to develop an alumni of senior police officers in the ASEAN – Australia region who will work together to address regional law enforcement issues and challenges into the future. The opening was also attended by Australian Attorney General H.E. Philip Ruddock, Australian Ambassador to Indonesia H.E Bill Farmer, United Kingdom Ambassador H.E. Charles Humfrey, Australian Counter Terrorism Ambassador H.E. Mike Smith, Wakapolri Drs. Makbul Padmanegara, AFP Deputy Commissioner John Lawler and other official dignitaries from Indonesia, Australia and the United Kingdom. |
